Health Garage (“we,” “us,” “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through our website, in keeping with British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).
Please don’t send medical or other sensitive information through this website.
This policy covers our website only. How we handle patients’ medical records in the clinic is governed by our separate clinic Privacy Policy, also available at reception on request. Our website contact and booking forms are not a secure channel for health information — to discuss anything medical, please contact the clinic directly.
1. Information we collect
We only collect the information you choose to give us. When you use a contact or booking form, request an appointment, or sign up for our newsletter, we collect what you provide — typically your name, email, phone number, and anything you write in your message.
2. Cookies and tracking
We don’t use cookies, analytics, or other tracking technologies, and we don’t build a profile of your visit. Our website is hosted in Canada; our host may keep standard security logs (such as IP addresses) to keep the site running and safe.
3. How we use your information
We use the information collected through our website to:
- Respond to your enquiries and appointment requests.
- Operate, maintain and improve our website.
- Send you our newsletter, if you asked to receive it — you can unsubscribe at any time.
- Meet our legal and professional obligations.
4. How we share your information
We use a few service providers to run our website and respond to you — for example website hosting and our online booking system — and they keep your information in Canada. The one exception is payments: if you make a payment, our payment processor, Stripe, handles it and processes your payment information outside Canada, where it may be subject to the laws of that country. We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
5. Links to other websites
Our site may link to websites we don’t control. This policy does not apply to them — please review their own privacy policies.
6. How we protect your information
We take reasonable steps to protect the information collected through our site. No website or internet transmission is ever completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security — one more reason not to send sensitive health information through the site.
7. How long we keep it
We keep website enquiries and related information only as long as needed for the purpose we collected it, and as the law requires, and then securely delete it.
8. Children
Our website is intended for a general adult audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the site.
9. Your privacy rights
Under PIPA, you may ask to see or correct the personal information we hold about you, and you may withdraw consent — for example, by unsubscribing from our newsletter. To make a request, contact our Privacy Officer below.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The effective date at the top shows the current version.
